USED ICT IN TEACHING HOW TO DRAW 3-D SHAPES.

In my first post I have mentioned about the advantages of using ICT in our teaching and learning processes. Yes! It has good advantages specially with small kids. In one of my lesson with Pre Primary students I was teaching them how to draw 3-D shapes like cone, cylinder, sphere and rectangular prism. I was having a tough time teaching them how to draw especially the rectangular prism. Pre Primary children never understood when I taught them how to draw rectangular prism. I taught them on the board using chalk. I had a really tough time to teach them to draw 3 –D shapes.
I remembered ICT and I goggled it and found one video tutorial on how to draw 3-D shapes. I immediately downloaded the video. In my next class I showed them the tutorial video as shown below on how to draw 3-D shapes. I played the video repeatedly.

Later on I told the children to get ready with a pencil and a book to draw 3-D shapes by watching the tutorial video. After that I let children to draw 3-D shapes. To my surprise I could see children drawing the 3 –D shapes much better than before. I was impressed with their work as shown below
.

ICT made my work easier but as there is a saying every advantage has a disadvantage. Since I didn’t get projector to show my video to my PP kids I had to show them in my laptop. I had a very tough time controlling them since the number of children in my class is more. I had to show them in groups. It took me almost two periods to show my video to them.
Still than I found more advantages than disadvantages so I would prefer using ICT in my upcoming teachings too.

  1. You have done a great job by using ict to give very clear and presice concept through video tutorial. When you show or teach then through ict your children will be enhanced and motivated to a great height. I am pretty sure that your children got the concept clearly through ict as these days our children are native to ict. Therefore I recommend you to use of such kind in the future too!!!

  3. Wow good ideas shared to use ict.I felt that it would have been better if madam had asked OHP from it lab to carry on with the activity.Any ways it was another creative ways of using ICT in the classroom and I also thought that I will try using ICT in that way.

Please keep on using ICT in different ways.

  7. In a time-tested logic, it is imperative to explore such relevant teaching strategies to best impart the intended content rather than teaching through the use of traditional textbooks.

As I was teaching the 3D shapes I came across the drawing technique. I was enjoying but this was not there in my particular lesson but was thinking may be I will do it next time and now when I came across your I am pretty sure I need to do be8you had a success story.
Children must have enjoyed learning the easier way to draw otherwise they are actually not very much happy to draw prism and the pyramids.

  11. No matter how much time you spend but see the result at end. Though you have no projector to show the pictures of 3-D shapes you have used other methods to convey the concept. It's good to know that you have used your available resources to teach the concept of 3-D shapes.

  18. Children has drown the 3D shapes authentically and that happened due the usage of the ict. The class management might have much better if you have used the projector as you have mentioned. It happens with us also where is only one projector but users many.
